Since 1978, the Uplands Golf Club Annual Heart Tournament has raised more than $3 million for the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and funded leading-edge cardiac equipment for Royal Jubilee’s Heart Health program. Players, sponsors, volunteers, and donors have all helped make the Tournament one of the longest-running, most successful charity tournaments in BC.
This year proceeds from the Tournament in addition to half the total 50/50 jackpot support the funding of new Coronary Care Unit (CCU) beds for Royal Jubilee Hospital. These beds are ergonomically designed to provide safety, comfort, and support for critically ill patients and safe and easy use for the care provider. The CCU cares for critically ill medical cardiac patients who are unstable and require intensive monitoring and interventions. This includes those who have experienced a heart attack, cardiac arrest, major heart rhythm problems, aortic tears, or require fluid drainage.
